Recent research study finds, "It would be dangerous, and rather silly, to replace your extra-virgin olive oil with coconut oil."
Dr. Laurence Eyres, chairman of the Oils & Fats Specialist Group at the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, published a new study on coconut oil and cardiovascular health. His study supports other research that shows that coconut oil is a poor choice for cardiovascular health. Dr. Eyres states, ‘‘It would be dangerous, and rather silly, to replace your extra-virgin olive oil with coconut oil.’’
Ellie Krieger, registered dietician and nutritionist, delves further into the topic of coconut oil in her Washington Post column. She and Dr. Eyres debunk several myths about coconut oil.
